The mouth as part of the performance

Many times when making a facial acting we focus mainly on the eyes and mouth work more as a complement than something that has value by itself in action. We just work conscientiously lip sync and adding complement to mouth smile expressions, sadness, etc. It is clear that the eyes are an important part in the action and are usually the center of attention of the viewer, but do not forget that the mouth can bring great things to acting a scene.

In the sequence I show an example, Jon Snow reminds Tyrion Lannister was his brother who killed the King. Something that is very difficult to digest for Tyrion. Tyrion pauses which tries to swallow as you can pump just launched Jon Snow. What feels Tyrion reflected in the physical action of swallowing. It is acting in the mouth is the protagonist and account without words how difficult it is to digest something for the Lannister family. It is a simple example of what can improve a performance if we think of the mouth as part of the performance. The next time you have to face a scene, think like can incorporate the mouth as a more active part of the action and see as your plane is greatly improved.
