ABOUT ME

My name is Maximino Diaz, but everyone knows me in the animation world as Maxi Díaz. When I was a child, I enjoyed a lot of much drawing and telling stories with my sketches. When I was a teenager, I devoured comics and dream with the idea of becoming a good comic artist. I decided to study fine arts seeking artistic training that would allow me to dedicate to the world of comics. When I was studying second course, I saw a post on the Bulletin Board of the Faculty: Animation Studio looking for cartoonists. The study was called Blue Pencil. I went there with my portfolio and they gave me an opportunity to start my career in the animation world. I discovered another way of telling stories and today is my profession and my passion. I was fortunate to meet the best spanish animation professionals of the moment and work on projects like the Walt Disney film “The DuckTales” ,, Warner Bross Tv series “Batman” or Hanna Barbera feature film “Once upon a time in the forest” ., ..

Years later I made the transition to the world of 3d with the feature film El Cid the legend, for Filmax Animation. Subsequently spent several years working as animation Supervisor on Bren Entertainment, the factory 3d Filmax in Santiago de Compostela. “Pinocchio 3k”, “Gisaku” and “Donkeyxote”, they were some of the projects in which it participates as a supervisor of animation. Over the years working in Filmax, for the first time a project in which they had worked won recognition from the Academy of Arts and cinematographic Sciences. El Cid the legend and Pinocchio 3K won the Goya Award for best animation film in the years 2004 and 2005 respectively. The next step was to return to Madrid to work as a senior animator on the film “Planet 51” from Ilion Animation Studios, He was also awarded a Goya for best animated film.

Completing the project, to become part of the Lightbox Entertaiment team, first as a Senior animator and later as Director of animation in the film “Tad, the Lost Explorer”, a project that also got recognition from the Academy of Arts and cinematographic Sciences with three Goya Awards: Best Animated Feature, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best New Director. To promote the film “Tad, the Lost Explorer”, We made a short film in the study: “Nefertiti's hand”. In this project I also worked as Director of entertainment and was finalist at the premio Goya best short animation film.

After the success of “Tad, the Lost Explorer” We perform in Lightbox Entertainment “Discover with Tadeo”, a series of popular science in which Tadeo and his friends teach in pleasant way to curiosity about the human body, geography and other subjects.

We are currently starting to work on the next film of the Lightbox Entertainment factory: “Capture the flag”. An adventure in space movie aimed at the family entertainment which we hope will have the same success as “Tad, the Lost Explorer”.
