Animation Workshop with quadrupeds

Quadrupeds always constitute the unfinished for many animators. If you've always had the thorn stuck and want to go deep into the world of quadrupeds… This is your workshop!

At 90% productions a quadruped always appears and ends up being our nightmare. Learn in this online workshop which animation keys with quadrupeds are to successfully meet any production work, either with more style cartoon or looking for the absolute realism.

THEORY quadrupedal locomotion

In this workshop it has a theoretical part where learn the basics of locomotion quadruped 8 lessons:

  1. The bases of animal behavior. Learns this lesson as it should be the behavior of an animal in order to have a credible basis for acting in your animations.
  2. Human Anatomy versus animal anatomy. Understand this lesson the differences and similarities of the anatomy between the two worlds to build bridges that allow you to better understand the animal world.
  3. Morphology of the extremities. Although mechanical bases are the same for the whole world at large quadruped, there are three major groups that make the difference in style of locomotion: plantígrados, digitigrade and ungulates.
  4. Limb biomechanics. One of the most important parts quadrupedal locomotion to understand. We analyze with great precision how it works forces, weight, ... levers both the front and the rear and are connected by the column as. Understanding the biomechanics is so necessary for an animator, like mathematics for a programmer.
  5. Design for locomotion. Most quadrupeds share based on mechanical locomotion and differences are always their own brand morfología.En this lesson we will compare the walk of a tiger and an anteater for you to learn which are the keys to analyze to give proper character in our animations.
  6. The walk. We learn the theoretical basis of how the quadruped walking works. We will analyze examples to understand what are the key poses and breakdowns required to raise a walk properly.
  7. trot. We understand how this mode of locomotion works, since when I use it to its theoretical basis for a correct approach to animation.
  8. canter. We learn the different modes canter: Transversal and rotary. When you use them and how does your biomechanics to get an animation of a fluid canter.

Take the time you want to understand well the theoretical part before starting the practical part of the workshop. It is very important to assimilate the concepts if you do not want to have difficulties in addressing the practical part of the workshop.

PRACTICAL EXERCISES

Once seen lessons will address the practical part of the workshop in which we will 3 exercises:

  • Animating a Walk.
  • Animating a trot.
  • Animating a canter.

If you are an experienced animator and prefer a greater challenge, You can only exercise in which you integrate the three modes of transport within the same test. The important thing is to put into practice everything learned in the way that most motivates you.

Whatever you decide, for the entire course you will receive 12 feedbacks in video form corrections that have the necessary guidance to get the most out of everything learned depending on your skills as an animator.

LOS RIGS

In the workshop you have several options when choosing the type of characters that you want to do it. If you need to work with maximum realism, my recommendation is to use this rig saber-toothed tiger Kiel Figgins, prepared for animations with a high level of detail. Animations makes you open the doors to productions from the world of VFX.

But if you want something more cartoon, we can use a Mac, el buldog de Long Winter. You decide which way you're most interested and the most suitable for your future purposes.
