The objects as part of the performance

One of the best resources you can use to enrich the acting in a scene are the objects in the environment of character. When we started working on a plan we focus exclusively on the character and forget that objects are within reach can also contribute much to the performance.

The first thing to look at is the character of the characters involved in the scene. The example below we have belongs to the House series. We all know the Dr. House and we know that is an arrogant character, cynical and sarcastic seeking always get away with it. The only friend who has House in the series is Dr. Wilson. An educated person has to endure teasing and abuse of House. Dr single. Wilson has enough confidence to dare to talk to House as equals and patience to endure lose out in every encounter. Any object that handles House on the scene, must be used in a way that shows the arrogance of character. If the object manipulates Dr. Wilson, will have to show politeness and good manners. This is the way to be both characters and will have to be reflected in the way we manipulate objects in their environment.

In the sequence shown below, Dr. Wilson wants to take control of the situation and try to use the sandwich to convey this idea to House. But House is not allowed and whenever Wilson tries to put the game House of transgresses. It is a power struggle in which we see as House gets the piece of sandwich that Wilson is reserved for him and then bites so rude, dropping food on the plate. It is their way of showing to Wilson that he is the boss and you will never be able to control him. Whenever Wilson manipulates the sandwich demonstrates good ways and every time he does House shows impertinence and rebelliousness.

As I said, the sadwich only serves to House and Wilson wage a battle that shown which is his way of being, his character and his goal in the course of history: Wilson intenta controlar a House y este le demuestra que nadie puede hacerlo.

If the scene had just met with facial and body acting without the use of objects, I do not doubt that everything had understood, but recognize that the battle for the sandwich adds a touch of humor to the scene which makes it something special.

So when using the objects in a scene, try to go beyond representing the instrumental use of the object itself. Always try to use objects to convey the lifestyle of the characters and the viewer clarify its objectives in history. It's those details that differentiate well animated scenes that contain something special that everyone remembers.
